Hi, I'm Lexi Annabelle Schmidt Hamilton (no hypenated last name...just two middle names), daughter of Michele Schmidt and Nick Hamilton, sister to Trinity and Madison and half-sister to Jayden and Emma. Last week one morning I woke up and I felt just so icky. My head was hurting from being stuffed up along with my nose which made it hard for me to suck on my bottle. And, to make it even worse, I'm cutting my first teeth so needless to say, all I wanted to do was pull my blanket over my head and hope that it would all go away fast. Well, mommy didn't like the sound of my cough (oh yeah, I forgot to tell you....I had this croopy cough) sounded so she took me to the doctor...........and........
It was kind of scary going to the doctor but I'm glad mommy took me so that he could fix me up. No wonder I felt so crummy......I had a bronchial infection! I guess it has something to do with my lungs and breathing. I got some medicine (they call it antibiotics and let me tell you....it doesn't taste good) to take AND I had to learn how to use a nebulizer to clear my lungs. Well, THAT was REALLY hard to get used to!! I mean, who wants a mask put over their mouth and nose and told to sit still and breath. I certainly didn't like it (especially since I had just learned how to clap my hands) but with the help of PopPop and Grandma (who uses a nebulizer herself), they made it a lot easier to do......
Oh, and Grandma's endless verses of "The Wheels on the Bus" and "Old McDonald". That's her in the picture up above these letters. When Grandma started running out of breath singing, she asked Trinity and Madison to help out. Wow! I practically had the whole family singing to me! Well, I did fight some of the treatmens but was really content to sit still during others. Everyone said I did really good for being so young....I mean, I am only 8 months-old.
While I was getting better, I tried to keep my happy, sunny disposition but it was hard playing with my favorite toys......that's my music box.
And....I slept a lot. Oh, and by-the-way, I LOVE my bed and as you can see....I also love my thumb when I sleep. Ever try sucking your thumb with your nose stuffed up??? Not easy!
BUT.......with all the medicine, rest, hugs, kisses and a very long weekend hiding away in the house with Grandma and PopPop, I am feeling better as you can see. And, just in time to go "Trick or Treating" with everyone. Grandma wants me to tell you that she will be showing you those pictures soon. Right now, she needs to go to Frontierville and do a little farming.
Yours truly, Lexi
