On Friday, the day after the storm, there was a lot of clean up in addition to dealing with the tree......
Not only was it a lot of work but it was HOT; we didn't not catch a break in the temperature...even after the storm. Usually after a storm, it cools off but not this time. That's Lexi's little wagon; I used that to haul the smaller logs to the back of the house. And what do we need small logs for.....well, a fire pit of course!
Grandpa sawed off the big broken branch and started chopping it and boxing it up for the dump. Since we don't have a trailer to haul the branches, we need to cut them and bag or box them so it's very time consuming. We are finally making use of some of our many moving boxes we have stored in garage.
The way it was with the branch gone; we realized that the whole tree would have to come down because it just would not be strong enough to make it through any more heavy winds that might arise in the future. We might actually be able to use the extra parking spot that was there all along but covered by the tree. Nobody wanted to park there because of the birds pooping and the spiders that lived in it. We called it the acrophobia tree. Actually, this may have been a blessing in disguise.
On our few rides around on Friday I realized just how very lucky we were. SO many trees came down in and around our area; in some yards more than one. All day long you could hear chain saws and wood chippers in the distance. Plus, we got our power back by about 6 hours later. Some were still without power on Friday. In addition, we didn't have any real property damage like in some places where a roof blew off and billboards came down.
On to Saturday.........
