Before
The pile of sawdust used to be our tree that came down during a storm in the spring. We finished cutting down the tree ourselves but had to have the stump ground out.
The short sidewalk down to the steps to the garage door and yard. When the house and original sidewalk settled years ago, it caused it to crack and created a 'not-so-safe' place to walk. Although, the lizards loved this spot to hide in.
Construction
I didn't take too many pictures of the 'construction' because it seemed that me running around with a camera made the workers nervous. And Grandpa, a former construction worker, said that when he was working on job, he hated people hanging around watching....he just wanted to get the job done. That made sense so I backed off with my camera even though my trigger finger was itching to take more pictures.
Finished
Fixed Sidewalk
It was Grandpa's idea to have the garden space between the old slab and new one. I think it was a good one because it breaks it up a little and was a perfect spot to plant annual mum plants.
It wouldn't have been complete without personalizing the job. Five Susan B. Anthony dollars; one for each grandchild, Trinity, Madison, John, Isabelle and Lexi.
We love having the extra space and Shelly (who parks in the garage) has less trouble backing out. Money well spent!!
