'Pack Away Christmas' Results

Well, I know you are all waiting with baited breath on the results of my new method of packing away Christmas. I'm happy to say that the item that got left behind last year DID make into a box...thank goodness...I don't think I could have spent another year of cussing at that thing even though it was a cute decoration.

However, we were not without one 'left behind' item. NUTS!! And, I even passed it by several times and made a mental note to pack it. Yeah, that worked well. So Grandpa gets all the boxes out of the house into the garage, nicely packed up in the shelves....actually, with extra space left over. Gee, I hope we didn't miss something really big. Anyway, I glanced around the dining room and spotted it. There it was; mocking me, I think I may have even heard a little giggle. One little Christmas cloth napkin under a crocheted doily on one of the shelves in the Amish cabinet....the cabinet where all the boxes were stacked in front of after being packed. Yeah, yeah....I know. Why didn't I clean out that cabinet BEFORE I started stacking the boxes? Easy to think of that now.

But that's ok. I've had this box of Christmas cards like for 20 years...I ain't kidding....and I decided to finally go through it this year. Each year I would drag it out, dig through it to see who would be getting which card and pack it back away. Well, over the years envelopes have been snatched for some other reason or we had 12 cards and only 10 envelopes. And of course, the wrong size to make up for the others that had been snatched. I piled up cards on one side of the table and the envelopes on the other and matched up what I could. Actually, I saw cards I haven't seen in years; that's how far down in the box I dig around when looking for a card. So, between these 'new ones' (as I refer to them now), deciding which ones I really didn't like anymore and donating them to the school, ones without an envelope and ones I found and wondered 'what was I thinking when I bought them?', I ended up with a smaller pile of cards which meant I could transfer them to a smaller box.

Now, you are probably wondering why I'm yammering on about my box of Christmas cards. This is the one and only box of Christmas I keep inside the house during the year. It's cards; paper....don't want to take the chance of the dampness getting to them. And besides, where would I get that extra envelope when I need it for something; hense the shortage of envelopes. Soooooooo, this box did not get packed in the garage, right? Sooooooo, I had a place to throw that mocking Christmas napkin.

See, there really is a method to my madness....or would that be madness because of my methods?
