Look at this.......

Well, I think I may have figured it out! Still trying to sew it together but at least I got through the 'how the heck do we do this' mental block. Actually, I had some help from my friend, Robin, in my quilt club. She emailed me a few tips which didn't really make sense to me right away so I put everything away for a few days. Then I got stubborn and decided that this was not going to beat me so I pulled up her email again, pulled out the pieces, concentrated and the light bulb came on in the brain! I have class again today and still have a few questions for the teacher (as you can see it isn't totally completed) but I'm pretty proud of myself for how far I got considering how confused I was.

Looking at the colors in this block, it looks awfully light but then I pulled out my burgandy sashing which will be around the entire square and it really 'pops'. I've learn when picking out the colors for blocks that you really have to take into consideration the color of your sashing. You don't want any of the outside pieces of the block to be the same color of the sashing because it will run together and you won't get the full effect of the sashing.

Lesson learned!!
