The above is photo (a bit blurry) of the finished product of the 12-week quilting class I have started. This is a queen size quilt and All....yes, I said ALL hand pieced and hand quilted. Also it's all hand-cut; no rotary cutting in this project. We didn't even rotary cut the sashing; we ripped it. We even made our own templates. Need I say that my teach is "old school"? It makes for an interesting challenge.
This is my first square that I have completed. Yeah, that was all stitched together by hand. Its the square second down on the right on the finished quilt above. We all picked out our own fabrics. Below is a close-up of my work....check out those corners!! These are three of seven colors/patterns I picked out. I have more gray and tan prints coming up. My burgandy will be the pink focus fabric on the above quilt. Will keep you posted with photos as I get them finished.
Our class meets every Wednesday at Pappy's Quilt Shop in Maryville which is about 1/2 hour from my house but a nice relaxting scenic route. As with any class that I have taken, I've learned so much already along with many tricks but this class is going to be my biggest challenge so far. One student has already dropped out. It's turning out a lot more work than I anticipated but I'm determined to stick with it.
Along with this quilt, I'm working on finishing up Lexi's quilt and starting one for my mom; a lap size that she can cover up when she is resting in her recliner and watching T.V. I also spent yesterday organizing my supplies and work space. While going through my 'stash' looking for fabric for mom's quilt (she likes blue), I realized I just may have to take a trip to JoAnns or the Cherry Pit to look for some to add to it. That's ok, I'm always open for a field trip to my favorit stores.
Happy Quilting!!
