Update on Quilt Project

Here's the second block of the big quilt project that I started. This was a tough one and as you can see, it's not even on the bottom. Actually, I was glad to get it finished. Stitching part of it, ripping it out, cutting new piece using the wrong template, more stitching and more ripping until FINALLY deciding that what I have here is the best it will be without throwing it out the window in frustration. I just hope the squares don't get harder from here......talked too soon.

Our teacher was not in class this last week so the week before she gave us two patterns to work on. The other one was the Weathervane pattern. The one pictured above is what it's supposed to look like but I'm stuck on it so it's sitting there until the next class. Actually, the pattern she gave us is quite different (and more complicated) than the one above and others I found in my research which I conducted after getting stuck and thinking I was doing everything wrong. The dark orange arrows are made up with one small square and two small triangles. On her pattern that arrow is made up with two long diamond shaped pieces. I'm totally confused trying to stitch it together using her pattern. The pieces just do not fit together easy enough so I stopped........I may try recutting some of the pieces and try it this way if I can figure out the measurements I would need for the little square and triangles. If not, I'll leave it and whine in class on Wednesday. I'm sure I'm not to only one having trouble with this.

In the meantime, in order to save my sanity, I started pressing the fabric for my mom's quilt and have picked an easy nine-patch pattern to use. My anxiety level thinking of my mom's quilt has dropped significantly after the other two blocks so I'm back to having fun......that's what I keep telling myself, at least.

I haven't thrown in the towel yet. That's a good sign.
