Say NO to drugs......

Recently I turned the wrong way at the right time when storing tubs of quilting fabric in the closet and sprained my back. Anybody who has ever done this knows that this can be a real 'pain in the back' (no pun intended). It's hard to get comfortable whether you are walking, sitting and even laying down trying to sleep. By Tuesday, I decided I better go to the doctor just to make sure I didn't permanently damage any part of my body or maybe needed a chiropractor. I mean I'm not getting any younger you know.

After he pushed, poked and stretched me he came to the conclusion that I had sprained my back on the right side. He told me that it could take one to two weeks to get better and the usual....don't lift, stretch, pull, but keep moving. Not to lay around; that when someone hurts their back, instinctively they think they should rest....well yeah; sounds good to me, especially, since it hurts to even walk. But, it's the worst thing you can do. Use a heating pad, ibuprofen and he gave me a prescription for muscle relaxants. That was not good.......

By the afternoon, I was miserable and decided to try the muscle relaxants to see if it would ease the pain in my back. I was also crabby and decided that since I was in such pain, I deserved to have a treat to maybe speed along my recovery as well as put a smile on my face. So, I dove into my stash of chocolate.......yes, I have a stash of chocolate.....it is one of the 'food groups' after all and I believe in eating healthy and including all the major food group.

Anyways, I found this bag of Cherry Cordial M&M's which by the look of the package, it was purchased around Christmas 2012. I had never tasted this flavor and I thought chocolate and cherry or cherry and chocolate....whatever way you cut it, it sounded good. So, I took one of the muscle relaxants, settled into my bed and opened up the bag of M&M's and had a few. I must say they were very tasty...at least the ones I remember shoving in my mouth. The next thing I knew, I woke up two hours later and found the bag half gone! WHAT? Needless to say, I was upset for eating all those bite sized pieces of chocolate and the worst part? I don't even remember enjoying them.

Well, at least my back felt a little better.

P.S. I finished off the bag in the next couple of days; not one to have leftovers around; especially when it comes to chocolate.
