Tennessee Christmas Tree 2011

This is our tree in Tennessee. Grandpa and I set it up and put on the lights. But, all the decorating was handled by Shelly, Trinity and Madison....in fact, the only thing she did was put on the garland and then the girls took over. That's why I love this tree; it's a true 'kids' tree' decorated by the kids FOR the kids. It's sort of like that at Becky's house. They go out to a field with the kids who help pick out the tree and they chop it down. How they manage to get out of the field is beyond me with each kid trying to pick out a tree that they liked....but that's her problem. I just get to see it when it's up and decorated in their livingroom (this will be the first year that we won't, sniff, sniff).

Another thing about this tree....80% of the ornaments on this tree are handmade; whether by the girls, themselves in school, by myself years ago or by Great Grandma Scherrer when the kids were little. Those are really special because they have the girls' names and the year on them. If she only knew that the ornaments she made years ago were saved, cherished and still being hung on a Christmas tree, I'm sure it would make her smile and bring a twinkle to her eyes.

Yep, I like our Christmas tree in Tennessee. Sure beats the little table top one we were using in Milwaukee after the kids got married and left the nest. It's almost like we have come full circle.
