In the kitchen.....these are some plants I bought for the kitchen; except for the one big one on the right. That plant came with us from Wisconsin. It was huge in our house in Milwaukee and I just didn't think it was going to travel very good so I thought of giving it away (I did give away some smaller plants to neighbors and friends), but this one had great sentimental value to me. I've had it for a very long time; it even sat on my desk at my last job. Well, Grandpa decided we needed to give it a chance. So, he chopped it back, threw it in my trunk (along with one other), and hoped for the best. When we got to our new house, we put it in front of our bright patio door, gave it lots of water and it came back! It's going to make a great hanging plant when it get a little bigger.
And, here is our Grape Ivy. This plant hung in our kitchen in Milwaukee for many years and we beautiful. It grew so well, that we had to trim it back a few times. This one was the other one chopped back by Grandpa and traveled in the trunk. It also came back nicely. It's a little small to be hanging but I had an empty hook in the kitchen where an adopted fern hung.....for a while, until I got sick of it shedding and having to sweep up after it. The fern now resides in the garage....if it makes it, maybe we'll decide to bring it back in. For now, I have hopes that the Grape Ivy will keep growing and look like it did in Milwaukee.
Before Christmas Grandpa bought me this potted collection. It also had a poinsettia in it....but my luck with those is not good; in fact, I had actually gone down to a having a fake one to put out when decorating for Christmas. But, what the heck....we gave it a try. As you can see, no more poinsettia but five other plants that will be split up and repotted. I hope to have the sofa table full of plants starting with these.
This is another Peace Lily that we adopted from a friend of Shelly. It's huge and resides in our bedroom in front of one of the windows. Evey morning I raise the blind to give it light which must be working.....it's blooming!!!
Another adopted plant. This plant is hanging in our bathroom. Now, I don't know how long this one will be with us since the other one has already taken a dive, but we are going to give it some more time. It looks so nice hanging in that big bathroom. I think that if it doesn't make it, I will probably replace it....maybe with a big Spider plant. I'm now spritzing it everyday to see if that helps.....but.....if it keeps making a mess like the other one, it will be sitting next to it in the garage.
And that is Grandma's Jungle. Can't wait for spring to start working outside. The seed catalogs are arriving and the ideas are endless!!
