Right now Grandpa, a/k/a PopPop, is very special to little Lexi. There's a real connection there and if she had to pick between me and Grandpa for help with anything, she will pick him. It doesn't bother me though....I love to watch them together. When the big girls are at their daddy's house, it's not unusual to find Lexi hanging out with Grandpa. The other night he was outside playing with her and the bucket of chalk and this is the result. Lexi layed down on the driveway and as you can see, Grandpa was playing CSI and traced around her. I'm sure Lexi asked Grandpa to lay down too so she could try and trace him but.....at our age we may be able to get down there but it's the getting back up that is the tough part.....so we only had her 'body' in the driveway.
Another thing these two love to do together is take walks. If Lexi wants to go for a walk, she will bring Grandpa's shoes to him and if he doesn't have socks on at the time, she will also remind him he needs them first before putting on the shoes and she can be really insistent. Yesterday morning Shelly and I wanted to go out rummaging for a while and Grandpa offered hang out with Lexi. When we left, Lexi was laying on the 'bed' (complete with sheet, pillow and blanket) Grandpa had set up for her on the big ottomon we have in front of the couch on which Grandpa was laying. So we snuck out for a while. Coming back, when we came around the corner to our house, there they were taking a walk together. It was quite the sight. So, we stopped the car to say hello and Lexi had to get in and then she made Grandpa get in too.....all for the very short ride to our house.
Shelly made the comment while we were out and about rummaging that she thinks God sent Lexi for Grandpa. I have to agree.......
